Tania's Golden Milk - Turmeric Cannabis Infused Coffee

September 12, 2018

Yield: 5 cups

Haldi Ka Doodh, also known as "Golden Milk," is an extraordinary beverage to have at any time of the day and the benefits are exceptional.

Tania is a very nice British lady who inspired me to attempt making this recipe. She introduced me to "Golden Milk" and I took it from there.

The main ingredient to make Golden Milk is turmeric. Turmeric grows wild in the forests of South and Southeast Asia where it is collected for use in Indian traditional medicine. It's also one of the key ingredients in many Asian dishes. It's used though as a coloring agent - not as primary value. Read more about this amazing spice here

First off, it's better to make a large batch of this Golden Milk because it's a bit of work. At the beginning I started using regular coconut butter, but when I tried it with cannabis infused coconut butter, I found it a lot more tastier, and it also get you high. Perfect!

Ingredients

  • A joint, a bottle of wine, a loved one, good music and candles (optional).

  • 2.5 cups non-dairy milk (almond milk or coconut milk).

  • 2.5 cups regular brewed black coffee. The coffee is optional, I personally like it because it gives me a boost, mainly to keep up my productivity rather sitting at home, eating munchies and watch TV (check our previous post about 6 Helpful Ways to Avoid Unhealthy Munchies)That's just me, if you don't want cannabis infused coffee, you can just double the amount or coconut milk (5 cups of coconut milk instead of 2.5 cups and skip adding coffee)

  • 3 - 3" cinnamon stick (or 1.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon)

  • 1 teaspoon of ground pepper

  • 1.5 teaspoons of turmeric paste, or 3 - 1" piece turmeric, unpeeled, thinly sliced. Fresh turmeric is preferable, it will give it a delightful flavor, but dried turmeric works too.

  • 3 tablespoons honey (half tablespoon per cup). I usually add more, I like mine sweeter, it's up to you though.

  • 3 tablespoon of cannabis infused coconut oil (you can use our 1 Gram Cannabutter Recipe and instead of using regular butter, use coconut oil)

  • Ground cinnamon (for serving)

Instructions

  • First off, take a hit, pour a glass of wine play music on your stereo, and light up the candles. Again, it's optional, it's just the way I like to do it.

  • Mix all the ingredients, including the cannabis infused coconut butter, except for the milk and coffee, in a pot. Make sure it's large enough, we will add the milk and coffee later.

  • Pour 1 cup of the coconut or almond milk. Put the pot on the stove. and bring to a low boil. Now reduce the heat and stir  constantly until the mixture is a thick paste. This will help to cook all the ingredients together.

  • Now. Pour the rest of the coconut or almond milk slowly into the mix, and give it a stir. Let it simmer for 5 minutes. Stir every couple of minutes.

  • Add freshly brewed coffee to the mix. Give it a stir. Let it simmer for another 5 minutes. Stir every couple of minutes.

  • Strain through a fine-mesh to get rid of any unwanted particulars from the turmeric, cinnamon or even the cannabis infused butter.

  • Serve into mugs and top with a dash of cinnamon.

  • You can save it up for 5 days. store in an airtight container. It's optional if you like it warm or cold.

  • Keep in mind that turmeric settles in the bottom of the mug/airtight container, so stir well before drinking.
